Obtained a BFA in product design from Parson's School of Design
in New York and subsequently gained a diploma from the Architectural
Association School of Architecture in London. He also has a research
degree from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London. Thomas is
a registered architect in his native country of Finland (Architect
SAFA). Since then he has been teaching at University of Greenwich,
the AA Architectural Summer Language School, and the Centre of Advanced
Design (Kuala Lumpur). He's currently a Senior Lecturer at the University
Of East London. Work-wise he's been involved in schemes in London,
Malaysia, New York, Helsinki, and Kuwait, where he co-founded with
his wife Maysaa Al- Mumin-Modeen, Them Designers & Architects,
a multi-disciplinary design practice. Currently he is also conducting
research at the University of Loughborough's Rapid Manufacturing
Research Group (RMRG) into how Freeform Construction (an evolved
rendition of Rapid Manufacturing) could be used for the fabrication
of design & architecture. |
